Coin Sort is an addictive hybrid-casual puzzle game from Lion Studios. The gameplay mechanics of sorting coloured and valued coins into correct columns on a board which looks like a cash register are the same, however. Players press a “Deal” button, which delivers them the coins and forces them to drag the tokens around the screen and organize stacks of like types. The screen is divided into multiple columns, in which 10 identical coins can be merged into two coins of higher value using the “Merge” button following a game type mechanic like that of 2048. Simple but appealing concepts and sorting-cum-merging techniques have been driving its huge commercial success, especially in the US.
In early levels it hands you perfect layers — all stars above, diamonds in the middle, horseshoes at the base — so a single well-timed tap empties an entire color in one fulfilling whoosh. Before long, the game begins to spill out in random handfuls, and you have to jiggle the contraption just so, enough that a silver dollar can be coaxed into maneuvering sideways without toppling an unsteady tower below it. Tilt too much and the group tilts in unison, a solid mass prying a star against the glass above the diamond chute, blocking the sole escape like a smirking bouncer. You could nudge — quick swipes that move individual coins a hair's width at a time — or you could shake, shaking the whole jar but risking turning yesterday's careful stratification into today's lawless farrago. All of decision space exists between those two verbs; mastery is knowing when to whisper and when to shout.

In a world full of digital distractions, Coin Sort delivers a serene dose of analogue charm packaged in a contemporary puzzle experience. This fun and addictive game tests your ability to pile coins into neatly organized, color-coded towers against the ticking clock or high scores. With its tactile and simplified drag-and-drop controls, colorful graphics, and puzzles that get progressively more challenging. The organization of spare change into a brain-teasing adventure that's as cathartic as it is exhilarating.
What makes Coin Sort different is precision mixed with speed. Some levels demand methodical forethought, as you're forced to prioritize rare coins or clear space before taking on a larger pile. Others call for lightning-fast reflexes, encouraging you to sort coins as quickly as possible to outpace a countdown timer. The physics-based engine adds a delightful level of unpredictability — coins leap, roll or even cause stacks to collapse if you're not careful, and you'll need to learn on the fly.
The Coin Sort is visually delicious. Coins glitter with realistic texture and cast a gentle shadow on the screen as you stack them. All levels with themed background such as cozy craft room or family farm market have their own items to show, accompanied by the evolution of those backgrounds. The game also allows you to customize your experience: unlock new coin designs (like holograph or glow-in-the-dark), decorate your sorting stations with stickers, and select tranquil soundtracks that include gentle lo-fi beats or ambient nature noises.
The game features 100 levels, split into “worlds” that add new mechanics. In the “Treasure Chest” world, you'll work on unlocking compartments by sorting coins in the correct sequence. The “Factory Line” world introduces conveyor belts whose coins roll automatically into your workspace, challenging your multitasking abilities. Daily challenges and weekly tournaments add some variety, with bonuses (like extra coins or exclusive customization items) given to top performers.
Coin Sort is great for single player but features social aspects to spread the fun. Challenge your friends, level up to unlock unique power-ups, and compete with other players in multiplayer tournaments; then show of with a Brian Blow. Connect with friends for friendly duels or battle it out to become the champion of all written coin piles. It even has AR (augmented reality) on compatible devices, allowing you to project a virtual coin onto real-world surfaces for an interactive sorting session.
Coin Sort is one of those rare “easy to learn, difficult to master” games. With one-touch controls, it's a breeze to pick up, but the level of challenge means that it never gets stale. Whether you're winding down after a long day or looking for a swift mental workout, this game's satisfying “click” of coins snapping into place and its delightful visual rush of turning disorder into order offer instant satisfaction. Coin Sort is out now on iOS and Android, it is free to download with optional in-app purchases for cosmetics. Download it now and see for yourself why others have called “the most zen-inducing puzzle game of the year.” After all, who would have thought coins could be so much fun to sort?
