Description

Among Us is an online multiplayer social deduction game from developer InnerSloth, similar to Mafia or Werewolf. You can play with four to 10 people -- either people you know or online with strangers.

Play online or over local WiFi with 4-10 players as you attempt to prep your spaceship for departure, but beware as one will be an impostor bent on killing everyone!

Crewmates can win by completing all tasks or discovering and voting for the imposter to get ejected.

The Impostor can sabotage to cause chaos, making it easier to kill and having better alibis.

How to play

1. Starting rules game rules:

The game scene takes place on a spaceship. The game is divided into two camps: the crew camp (good guys) and the impostors (werewolf).

The proportion of the number of people in the faction is set by the opening host, and there can be up to 3 imposters. The condition for the victory of the imposters is when the number of imposters matches the number of crew members.

2. Winning conditions

1. Crew camp:
Complete all spaceship construction tasks, or vote to eject all imposters out of the airlock.

2. The imposter camp:
The imposter also has two ways to win:
One is a time-limited mission by destroying key parts of the spacecraft. If the crew fails to complete the corresponding mission within the specified time, another way to win is to continue to kill the crew members until the number of imposters is the same as the crew.

3. Game flow and special mechanisms

1. Discussion link:
It is a mandatory part of this game. When someone reports that a corpse is found, everyone enters the discussion and enters the vote. The one with the most votes is thrown out of the airlock. In addition,

during the game, you can also press the emergency button to force entry into the game discussion. The emergency button also has a limited number of times per game.

Voting can be assigned to a player based on the discussion, or it can be skipped when the situation is uncertain. The user with the most votes is the only result of this round of discussion. If a player gets the most votes, the player will be thrown out, If the number of people skipping voting is the largest, no player will be thrown out of the airlock this round.

2. Crew tasks:
In the game, the crew can win the game by completing all the tasks. The content of each person's task is slightly different. Some tasks also need to be carried out cooperatively. You can go according to the instructions on the map. The task format is very simple and only requires a little bit of operation. It should be noted that you should try to avoid acting alone so that there will be witnesses if you get killed.

Among us, the game was initially released in 2018 to little mainstream attention, it received a massive influx of popularity in 2020 due to many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers playing it. The COVID-19 pandemic has also been credited to the growth of the game. The game received positive reviews from critics, being praised for its gameplay and setting, although it was criticized for its technical issues.

Among Us is a multiplayer game for four to fifteen players. Up to three players are randomly chosen to be the impostor(s) each round. A round can take place on one of four maps: a spaceship called "The Skeld"; a headquarters building called "MIRA HQ"; a planet base called "Polus"; or "The Airship", which is based on Innersloth's Henry Stickmin series.

If you are new to this game, here are tips for new players:

Before you play with the other players, play with the Freeplay mode first. While In this mode, you are free to explore any of the maps outside of a normal game environment. All abilities from a normal game, such as Sabotage and Report, are useable. Freeplay is a good way to practice routes as a Crewmate and as an Impostor. Playing this mode can greatly increase your chances of winning during a normal play session. Consider keeping a tab open with the map you're currently playing on until you learn the names of each room. Knowing the names of each task and where they can be completed is also useful as you can confidently recount everything you've done as the Crewmate, or lie persuasively as the Impostor.

You should always keep a mental note of what others are up to as you move around the station. For example, if you see three other players on the way to Admin on The Skeld, and then a body is reported close by, you can share this information with the rest of the team. Similarly, if you're playing as an Impostor, knowing where others are on the map will help you remain hidden, and could even help you frame someone else for your lies.

If you play as a crewmate, there is a mixture of long and short tasks, depending on the settings your game host has opted for. You should remain alert when observing suspicious activity, try to keep your eyes on the prize of saving your ship. Complete them quickly, to make sure there's nothing distracting your team if the Imposter can thin your numbers. If you're doing tasks, each one can be used as an alibi when somebody is inevitably slain by The Impostor.

One of the best ways to counter The Impostors roaming your ship is by keeping a direct eye on the whole ship. Head to the Admin room to access security cameras and a detailed map showing all locations of other players. If you can keep an eye on this for a while, you might be able to spot other players doing something suspicious, possibly outing them as an Impostor. Call for an urgent meeting if you find anything suspicious.

As of September 2020, Steam Spy estimated that the game had more than 10 million owners on Steam. The Associated Press noted the game was the most downloaded app on the iOS App Store for both iPhones and iPads in October 2020. According to Super Data Research, the game had roughly 500 million players worldwide as of November 2020, with the free-to-play mobile version accounting for 97% of players and the buy-to-play PC version accounting for 3% of players, though it was the buy-to-play PC version that generated 64% of the game's gross revenue. Among Us became one of the best-selling games of 2020 on Steam, being listed on the platinum category on "The Year's Top 100" list.
