LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin' will be the most expansive adventure game through the Ninjago universe that we have ever made to date,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “Kids will get a kick out of playing as their favorite Ninja warriors battling a new enemy with an exciting array of cool vehicles, mechs, and even dragons! Acting as a sequel to 2014's LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids, the newly released LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin builds off of the framework that came before it, but not in all of the right directions.

Based on the TV show of the same name, the LEGO Ninjago games revolve around a band of ninjas determined to protect their home. When a new villain by the name of Ronin comes to town and steals the ninjas' memories, it's up to the heroes to regain their memories and stop the forces of evil from taking over Ninjago. Like the rest of the modern LEGO games, TV shows, and films, LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin takes all of the best elements found in previous LEGO adventures and mixes them together with a hilarious script, some weird and wacky scenarios, an impressive mix of character-based puzzles, and plenty of extras to make players feel excited.

I love the app and all the gameplay. However, I would like to see some open-world stuff and side missions in the different locations like most other LEGO games, because after you complete the levels there's not much to do. Yes, you can save up for and buy characters, but it's not worth it because you can only use them in levels that you've already played. Also, some of the characters have unique abilities but you can't actually use them anywhere.

There's also a distinct lack of depth in the combat, especially when you realize that all basic enemies can be instantly eliminated with a single jump attack. You can essentially single-hit KO your way through every skirmish rather than having to engage in battle at all. This lack of depth also brings about a lack of challenge, and it doesn't take long for a game that is both easy and shallow to become a bore.

In addition, the concept and characters are great! The characters and environments are brought to life through top-notch voice acting and a soundtrack that compliments the Ninjago world, if you like the Ninja warriors from the LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV show and the previous LEGO-filled adventures across various formats. I recommend you to give it a try, maybe you will find unique pleasure.
